The work hours for this position will bedaylight hours, Monday through Friday. Under the general direction of themanagement team and Senior staff, the programmer, senior is responsible forproviding proficient programming services, defining technical requirements,developing and/or maintaining computer applications/systems, and providingservices to meet client IT and business needs. Responsibilities: -Converts documented client needs/business processes into programcode following established standards and practices -Documents applications/systems in order to define the technical processes thathave been used to solve the client needs/business processes of an applicationor system using documentation deliverables such as written descriptions,flowcharts, or segments of ISD standard documentation -Provide technical support skills to evaluate software code in order to definethe associated process or identify fault producing conditions -Works with ISD staff, and/or vendors to evaluate, develop, and implementtechnical solutions including both packaged system solutions and customdevelopment applications options -Responsible for delivery of software products and services within budget andtarget delivery date Requirements: -Typically has completed afour-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systemsanalysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired core ITskills and knowledge via practical experience -Proficiently applies IT methods, professional knowledge, and UPMC standardsand practices -Intuitively grasps familiar, stable system performance situations -Responds to unfamiliar, undefined, unexpected, or unstable situations with theprofessionally prescribed standard response -Recognizes subtle problems with system design or performance and actsappropriately to improve the condition, seeking validation of actions inadvance as appropriate -Effective in relationships with business partners, professional peers, andother team members -Coaches less experienced IT professionals -Advanced experience in application development encompassing design,development, maintenance, support, and enhancement of applications using Javais highly desired -Experience with SQL, PowerBuilder, and other object oriented programminglanguages is also preferred Wewelcome you to apply at upmc.com/Careers.
